All in Aspen

I recently went to Aspen for the first time this June, and it’s my new favorite summer destination. I went with two friends for just three nights, but those three nights were so packed full of fun I had to share.

Day 1

Upon arriving, seeing the mountains outside the airplane’s window was a nice change of view from the flat Dallas land. After hauling up our suitcases up 4 flights of stairs into the apartment we rented, we went on a walk around the town and checked out some of the luxurious stores all along the mountaintop. After lunch, we took a long walk all around the neighborhood of Aspen. The houses here are stunning, making it a new dream of mine to own a vacation home here.

Day 2

A bright and early wake up call lead us to rent bikes and travel a 7 mile path towards Woody Creek Tavern, an Aspen staple. Chloe and Sarah rode the uphill journey back while I took a car, which is definitely what they would recommend after seeing a bear on their trip back. I ventured around the town some more as they rode back. This bike ride I would definitely recommend. It lets you see a lot of the mountains and the flowing creek below.

Day 3

Chloe and I took the gondola up to the very top of the mountain. People were still skiing during this time of year, which was such a fun thing to watch going up the mountain. We ate lunch outside and watched skiers go down. This was definitely my favorite activity of the trip. The views were breathtaking.

Overall

Having been to Vail multiple times, it was a really nice change of scenery to visit Aspen. I must say that I still am a beach girl, but being here during the summer was a great experience. The food is amazing and you get a lot of fresh mountain air being up there. Anyone thinking about a vacation spot to venture to next should for sure consider Aspen! It will not disappoint you. If you can see by how happy I look, I love Aspen :)

Spring Break Looks

This spring break, I went to Cancun. I had the most amazing time with a lot of people in my grade at school at Dreams Riviera Resort! I would definitely do this trip again-so much fun. I had a lot of time to lounge around in my swimsuit, but at night I always dressed up to go to dinner and the club at the resort. Here are my day to night outfits!

Swimsuit- Tory Burch

My luggage got stuck in Dallas until the second day of my trip, so having a best friend who is the exact same size as me is the best thing ever. Here’s to Chloe for her super cute swimsuit and letting me wear it!!!

White dress- Bloomingdales

We had a white party for all the spring breakers from my high school. I loved having a theme and getting to buy a new white dress for it. This one is really beachy because of the lace pattern on the outside, ruffled cap sleeves, and flowiness in the bottom. The cutouts give it a little extra flair which I like.

Top- Versace

Skirt- Lulu’s

Sandals- Steve Madden

One of my favorite trends right now is making a scarf into a shirt. I tied this Versace scarf around me into a strapless top and paired it with my favorite plain white denim skirt. I wanted to tie in the black from the scarf into my shoes so the black and gold sandals matches really well. This scarf I really like as a top. The colors are so bright and vibrant that being paired with plain items is really stylish.

Yet again another reason I am so glad I can wear Chloe’s clothes, because the first night of the trip was my birthday and was so scared that I had nothing to wear, but she really saved me. This strapless blue top and Topshop denim skirt paired well with a silver Hermes belt that I love!

I had the most amazing time in Mexico. Hope you liked getting a view into my wardrobe of the week!

NYC Food Guide

New York has some of the best food in the entire world. Being a foodie myself, living in the city for two weeks gave me some of the best eating opportunities. I have a food guide below of all the best places for munches, coffee, people watching, and enjoying everything the city has to offer! Click on the pics below for more info.

I lived off of iced coffee during class. Every morning and lunch I savored some of the best iced lattes with almond milk.

Happy munching!! ;)

Heavenly Bodies at the Met: Review

Heavenly Bodies at the Museum of Metropolitan Art is an extravagant collection of biblical design pieces. I was extremely inspired by the artwork on all the pieces. I love how the designers created a blend between religion and design, and it was really cool to see how they were able to compliment the two. The Met is a gorgeous museum, and the Met Gala theme this year was amazing to see. My favorite looks from the Gala were Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, and Blake Lively. The best looks from the Met Museum were the Gianni Versace evening gowns and the Dolce and Gabana evening gowns. The Versace gowns were embedded with crystals and gold and sparking. They were raised on pedestals, symbolizing the holiness and gorgeous style of the dressed. The Dolce and Gabana gowns were also elevated, creating a beautiful display of the embellished and beaded dressed. Throughout the exhibit, there were multiple displays of sparkles and embroidery. There was also a long row of dresses reminiscent of a traditional nuns wear. I loved seeing the different looks that were all related to religious symbols. This exhibit proves how fashion is more important than just a look, but that it has another meaning that goes beyond the stitching.

Jamaica Looks

I had the best time in Jamaica this June and loved being able to wear summery looks. We stayed at an all inclusive resort in Runaway Bay that housed several restaurants, so I got to dress up each night. I have a lot of stripes in the outfits below, which are a big trend for this summer. If you want to cop any of my looks, I have included all the info below!

Some of these items can be seen in my previous traveling posts, I have my Louis Vuitton luggage, New Balance shoes, Athleta yoga pants, Gucci tee, and Outlands denim jacket. I love wearing comfy yet cute outfits on the plane so that when you land you are ready for pics and enjoying your vacay.

As featured in my last post (check it out here!) I am wearing this top made by my dear friend, Kaki Zuch, and the white denim skirt is from Lulu's. I have been wearing this white skirt a ton, since it is fancy enough to go out in while also being super good for summer.

Two piece sets are a major summer trend. This tribal printed two piece set is from Pitaya. It features a sky high slit in both the legs, showcasing a perfect amount of skin without being too revealing. I am wearing Sam Edelman white wedges to compliment the long pants. Wearing heels with long pants can dramatically save you from taking a tumble by stepping on the bottom of your pant leg.

7E851CE5-5FA3-4EB0-A6B9-B0153BF2C36D.JPG

Yet again, another two piece! This one is from Zaful. Zaful can be a tricky website to order things from, since everything is extremely inexpensive and the quality can sometimes be neglected as a result of the cheap clothes. However, if you are careful about what you order and make sure to scrutinize the picture and description of the look to make sure it will not appear cheap, then Zaful can be a really good tool for trying out new looks.

This romper is from Pitaya. If you are going to the beach, get a light blue romper. I promise you won't be disappointed. The light blue color looks so good in pics by the ocean and you can restyle the romper so many ways to be able to wear it again.

White in undeniably a beach color. This white romper is from LF and the shoes are Sam Edelman.

Vacay Style feat. Kaki Zuch Designs

I am so grateful to have a best friend that’s also a soon to be famous fashion designer. Being in vacation in Jamaica, I have been wearing a few of Kaki’s creations. Everything from swimsuits to dresses, Kaki makes them all. She has gone to summer courses at Parsons for multiple summers and is going this July again, so she definitely has expertise in the designing department. My favorite two items she made are seen in the looks below. Check out Kaki’s Instagram to see more of the amazing things she does!

Coachella 2018: Travel Guide

Coachella was for sure the best experience of my life. There's a lot of hype about it, and I was not sure as to if it was true. It most definitely was. This is by far the best music festival I have been to, comparing it to Austin City Limits, SunFest, and Jmblya. I have some tips and tricks for you to have the most enjoyable Coachella experience ever!

1. Get there on Thursday, leave on Monday

Getting to LAX and then driving into Indio on Friday morning can be exhausting. We flew in on Thursday night and were able to get settled in our hotel so that by Friday morning we were well rested and ready for the day. Leaving on Monday night is paramount. Early morning flights are a major no, as there are thousands of festival-goers in their cars leaving at the same time on Monday morning. This makes for terrible traffic, so booking a flight on Monday night allows a no stress drive back to the airport.

2. VIP All the Way

I was grateful enough to be in the VIP section, which changed my entire experience. Being around so many famous people was such a cool experience. It's super chill in this section and the food is healthy and high quality. There's also lounge chairs all around so when your feet get tired from dancing, you can take a breather and spot celebrities under the shade from palm trees.

3. Weekend One Has More Fun

Weekend one undeniable has more surprise guest stars, more celebrities, and more fun. A few of the numerous guest stars that came on stage were: Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, G Eazy and tons more. There are a lot more celebrities who go to the first weekend as well, making celeb spotting a lot more interesting.

4. The Bandana's Aren't Just for Style

All those bandanas you see on instagram are not just for the aesthetic. Due to the super dusty climate, my bandana came in clutch for the nighttime dust storms. The first day I did not have a bandada, and I felt the dust in my lungs the following day. I didn't make the same mistake for day 2 and 3, and I never felt sick again. They're a really cute statement piece and dust protector, so why not?

5. Don't Make an Exact Schedule

I listened to the coolest artists by just walking around and stopping at stages with artists that sounded fun. Obviously for your fave artists, you need to know when they are on stage so you don't miss their set time. If you are too focused on seeing exact people at exact times though, you miss out on the chill setting and all the amazing things to do at the festival other than just the music.

6. Leave Before Fireworks

The first night, we stayed to watch the fireworks after the Weeknd performed. The fireworks were cool, but not worth the two hour wait to hop on the shuttle back to the hotel. We did not get back to the hotel until 3 a.m.. The next night, we left halfway through Beyonce's set, and were glad to see that there was no line for shuttles and we were back by midnight. If you are dead set on seeing the entire set from an artist, then by all means stay, but if you need beauty sleep like I do, leaving a bit early is paramount.

7. Bring a Jacket

The desert can fluctuate between hot and cold so easily. During the day, you're sweating, but once the sun goes down it's freezing. I had to buy a sweatshirt on the first day because I was so cold. Bring a backpack with a jacket or sweatshirt inside, you won't regret it.

B4ECF461-5B29-4B87-9144-AD576128AA4E 2.JPG

8. Check Snapchat for Surprise Appearances

Tyga posted on his snap story to go to the Sahara Stage at 5 p.m. and to no shock, he came on stage with Chris Brown and performed a couple songs. If I had looked at snap earlier, I could have seen him. Doing research is important to make sure you won't miss anyone.

9. It's Way More than the Music

Coachella has tons of great things to see and do other than just listening to music. The Ferris Wheel is so fun and gives you the coolest perspective of Empire Polo Club. There are a lot of art displays for you to take pictures in front of and see. The VIP section has three sit down restaurants for an upscale dining experience to take a break from the excitement of the festival. All the food in entirety is amazing. Just take a look ar #coachellaeats on Instagram and see what I'm talking about. The food was some of the best meals I have ever had.

Coachella has so many things to see and do, and if you ever get the chance to go I highly suggest it, as it was for sure the coolest thing I have ever done and created everlasting memories.

Coachella Day 3 Vlog|OOTD

The final day of my Coachella weekend I decided to go for a motor racing look inspired by influencers like Bella Hadid and Chantel Jeffries. I decided to opt out of a third boho look for this racing trend to channel the artists performing that day, like Carti B, Migos, and Eminem. I put face stars on to stick with the the motor sport trend.

LA Food Guide

I have always been a foodie. Los Angeles is home to some of the best restaurants around. From fresh seafood to cold pressed juices, LA is a food lover's dream. Check out some of my fave spots in SoCal below!

Amorino Gelato: Let me say no more, their gelato is shaped like a rose atop a fresh waffle cone.

The Butcher's Daughter: I have never eaten here due to a 90 minute wait, but this place has recently become an urban hotspot. This vegan restaurant goes beyond having a super clever name. The food is all fresh and their juices are great. It is on Abbott-Kinney, a short walk from Venice Beach. Skip the touristy food in Venice: the 10 minute stroll is worth it to come here.

Diddy Reise: This ice cream and cookie shop is frequented by UCLA students, so expect a 30 minute line after dinner. The line is well worth the wait for warm cookies with creamy ice cream sandwiched between. I always get pecan chocolate chip cookies with rocky road ice cream.

Disneyland: Disney goes way beyond rides, parades, and fireworks. Every detail of the Disney parks is carefully thought out, including the delicious food. My favorite treats were the famous pineapple Dole whip and beignets from the New Orleans section of the theme park. Save room for the tasty sweets in the park, or eat donuts for dinner like I did!

Forma: This Santa Monica restaurant is famous for tossing their fresh made pasta in a huge wheel of cheese. If you like cheese, Forma is a must. I recommend the mushroom tortellini and the sorbet sampler to finish off the night.

The Grove Farmers Market: This farmers market has been established since 1934 and is home to over 100 vendors. Every time I come to the grove, I get a world famous Bob's donut. Warm beignets covered in powdered sugar taste like they're straight out of New Orleans. I can also vouch for the carrot, ginger, apple juice from Green House for a healthy vibe.

Laduree: Laduree ships their macarons in fresh from Paris every morning. If that doesn't already convince you to come here, it is a great place for afternoon tea. The raspberry French toast served here is scrumptious with raspberry whipped cream, coulis, and fresh raspberries on the side. The avocado toast is great too.

LaMill: LaMill is a quaint coffee shop near Silver Lake. Being an avocado toast enthusiast, I ate their toast for brunch three times in one week. The coffee and granola is to die for.

Lemonade: Lemonade is not only known for their amazing lemonade, but also for their super fresh and delicious salads and sandwiches. I ate here four times in three weeks, which shows how much I love it. My favorite salad was the avocado and cherry tomato. They also have some hot food like truffle mac & cheese and creamy mashed potatoes.

Nobu Malibu: Nobu is my favorite sushi restaurant in the world. There are locations in New York, Dallas, and all around the world, but the best is Nobu Malibu. It is situated right off Pacific Coast Highway with stunning views of the Malibu waves. My favorite dishes here are the yellowtail sashimi, crispy rice with spicy tuna, and lobster tacos. The bento box dessert is a dark chocolate lava cake next to matcha ice cream and fresh berries. Nobu Malibu has such a great atmosphere and food that it is really common to see celebrities here.

Pressed Juice: Frozen yogurt has been overshadowed by the acai bowl and juice trend, but Pressed Juicery has created a new twist on fro yo. Their yogurt is frozen juice, which gives it great health benefits and allows you to eat as much as you want! I ordered the matcha green juice with berries and granola on top. This was the best way to beat LA heat. The juice here is amazing too!

Pump: My mom and I went into WEHO with the restaurant SUR in mind, but due to a kitchen fire we decided to go to Pump. Both restaurants are owned by Lisa Vanderpump, a real housewife of Beverly Hills. Pump was right next to The Abbey, which is an insanely popular nightclub that is a great place to go at night to spot celebs and see stars of the new reality show working behind the bar. Pump had amazing food and exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was beautifully lit outside by strung lights and kept us warm with heaters.

Sugarfina: The Rosé gummy bears are sweet and pack just enough champagne taste without containing alcohol. The gummies truly live by the "Rosé All Day" motto.

Van Leeuwen: I love the unhealthy kind of ice cream that is filled with fat and dairy, but this vegan ice cream food truck makes you forget that you are eating a blend of coconut and cashew milk. I ordered the matcha vegan ice cream which tasted great and only had a hint of coconut taste.

208 Rodeo: Sitting outside atop the steps of Via Rodeo sounds glamorous, but add fresh kale salad and veggie burgers, and your lunch just got upgraded. Being outside in the beautiful Cali sun makes waiting for your food fun! It is a great place to come when you need a break from shopping.

From acai bowls to fried donuts, Los Angeles has some of the best food in the world, so enjoy what this city has to offer!

Enamored in England

This Spring Break, I was blessed with the opportunity to stay at Oxford University for one week and take class there. Throughout my studies, I experienced many other quintessential English experiences. I went to Stonehenge, ate lunch on the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral (Serena VanDerWoodsen is that you?), and even saw a play feauturing Daniel Radcliffe, a heart throb of mine ever since binge watching all Harry Potter movies. Going to England for the second time in my life over Spring Break 2017 is an experience I will never forget. I strongly suggest that you travel around England and check out some of these places listed below, so you can have as fabulous of a trip as I did.

London

London is one of my favorite cities. Ever since going when I was 8, I have been in love with this city. It is my number one choice for a semester abroad, and I hope to get the experience to come here again. Since our group was staying in Oxford, we only spent 2 day trips in this great city. My favorite activity in London that we did was walking around Buckingham Palace and even seeing the changing of the guards. This is an essential memory that you have to see when you are in London. Even though it seems overrated just watching some men in funny hats march down the street, the changing of the guards is very symbolic in English history. I also loved the palace because I totally imagined myself being a princess there, twirling about the 400 rooms.

Another fun activity in London is going to St. Paul's Cathedral. I love seeing the architecture and windows in churches. We only sat on the steps of the church and ate lunch (a Pret a Manger sandwich, beet juice, and chocolate chip cookie which I highly suggest) and people watched. I recommend actually going into the church.

London has amazing shops. Since my trip was fulfilling my humanities credit for high school and was more educational based, I was not able to shop the great stores of London. Harrods is an amazing department store that is world renowned. The original store is right in London and is home to 330 departments, 7 floors, and over a million square feet! It is a shopping lovers dream. Pop into the Ladurée in Harrods for some amazing macarons.

On our second day trip to London, we toured the Globe and even saw 15 minutes of rehearsal for their upcoming show, Romeo and Juliet. It was amazing to watch and seeing a show there is on my bucket list. That night, the group of 100 students doing the Oxbridge Academy program, watched the play, "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead." The acting was impeccable, and I was so excited when Daniel Radcliffe took the stage. Unfortunately, the long (2 hours and 14 minutes to be exact) and confusing play seemed to drag on and on, and I was too sleep deprived to fully comprehend the show. Overall the theatrical performance was amazing, but if you travel with kids, the show might be something to opt out on.

London has always been ranked high on my list of favorite cities, and even though we did not spend a lot of time here, I absolutely love the city.

Oxford

We spent most of our time in Oxford, England, which is a little under 2 hours drive from London. Oxford has its fair share of cute shops and yummy restaurants, and I got the experience to have a first hand look into all that Oxford has to offer. Everything is pretty centrally located, so everything that interested me was a short walk away from Pembroke College. Topshop was right around the corner, so I could get my fair share of current trends while being amongst the old architecture. Oxford is a very photogenic city (i.e. the pictures above). The cobblestone streets and smorgasboard of architecture were beautiful to see while strolling the cobblestone streets.

The Bodleian Library, home to many Harry Potter scenes, was gorgeous. The books inside were all so beautifully bound and the library was crafted in intricate detail. I am fascinated by the covers of books, so seeing the old books was really cool to me.

Christ's Church is a gorgeous church right next to where our dorms were. I never got the opportunity to go in or climb the church stairs to see a panoramic view of Oxford, but I would suggest doing this if you get the chance.

I took a Critical Thinking course at the university, which included many chill days of just being creative or deep thinking. My favorite day of this course was sitting at the W Cafe in Waterstones Bookstore and drinking the most delicious chai tea latte I have ever had. Brits really know how to make tea! Also in this class, we went to a couple different parks. Our group sat by the pond and discussed newspapers, came up with new inventions while watching crew teams row by, and debated current day issues. The public parks in Oxford are very well maintained and perfect for a walk.

Food wise, I do not eat beef or pork (due to my unconditional love of pigs and cows) so I could not indulge in the shepherd's pie or bangers and mash that are so common in British culture. I did however eat fish and chips, spinach pie from the iconic Eagle and Child where Lewis and Tolkein wrote, and an abundance of sweets. The dark chocolate chip cookies from Ben's Cookies are a must, and the sweet mango sorbet from G&D's is something I am still craving. My motto of the trip became "Carbs on carbs on carbs" because it seemed like every meal I was getting an abundance of carbs. The delicious food was totally worth the extra calories though.

Oxford is a pretty average college town in the means of shops and food. It is gorgeous to walk around, and has a good share of shops and restaurants.

Bleinheim Palace was one of my favorite excursions. It is only a 20 minute drive from Pembroke. This palace has the most amazing gardens I have ever seen. There is even a waterfall, river, and Ferris wheel on the palace's property! They had a fashion exhibit going on where I got an inside look into Royal clothes.

Stonehenge

Before learning about what Stonehenge was, it seemed overrated. I wondered why so many people flocked to come take pictures in front of some rocks. On my trip, I learned that ancient people carried the rocks up the mountain and they're still there because of MAGIC!!! That made the rocks much more interesting to me. If you get the experience to come here, you definitely should and take tons of touristy pictures.

This was the best spring break I have ever had, and I hope you all come to England to have an amazing trip too!!

Sunfest Style

Even though the Sunfest Music Festival was in Palm Beach, it was not your typical palm beach style. Instead of Lilly Pulitzer skirts and beach blouses, I saw a lot more bodysuits and denim shorts. One of the most popular looks was tube tops and shorts. Since the weather was so hot outside, it allowed people to get away with wearing more revealing clothing.

I arrived on the 3rd day of the festival, straight after taking an AP exam. Since I would only be at the festival during nighttime, I opted for a sparkly crop top and black flowing pants.  This Princess Polly top sparkled in FloRida's stage lights.

IMG_1868.JPG

For the second day, I knew it would be a long, hot day. I went for a black velvet crop tank top with faded jean shorts. For shoes I wore my trusty Birkenstocks. They are not the most stylish shoes, but have recently become trendier and are hands down the most comfortable shoes I own. For a pop of color, I chose my Tory Burch coral bag. It fit perfectly with the whole look and took it from basic to brilliant. To incorporate a major trend, I wore a silver buckled western belt. Coachella queens like Vanessa Hudgens are constantly seen wearing western belts!  I wore a lot of bracelets that color coordinated with my bag. To top off the look, I applied silver stars underneath my eyes. The star jewels stayed all day through the heat! Jewels are really popular at music festivals, so if you ever attend one, make sure to bring some! This was by far my favorite look of the weekend. It kept me cool while dancing to that tracks of the famous DJ Marshmello!

IMG_1935.JPG
IMG_2007.JPG

The final day of the festival I chose a maroon graphic tee paired with white high waisted shorts. I wore my favorite western belt and Birkenstocks again too, of course. I chose blue/green reflective sunglasses which paired well with the maroon tee. Since it was more of a chill day, listening to X Ambassadors and Kaleo, I decided on a more relaxed look.

IMG_2030.JPG

Going to Sunfest was an experience of a lifetime! I would highly recommend going to a festival. It allows you to listen to hundreds of singers while having a ton of fun. Catch me next time at Austin City Limits and Coachella ;)

Festival Essentials

This weekend, I went to Sunfest in West Palm Beach, which I would totally recommend. It was one of the best weekends I have ever had. For a flawless festival experience, it is very important that you are comfortable. You can still look cute while staying cool. My main tip is to pack light. I only carried my phone and portable charger, which saved me every night so I could snap all I wanted. I also had a small hand sanitizer, which came in handy in the packed crowds. All you need is a small bag that fits your phone, charger, hand sanitizer, and sunglasses for when it gets darker. In West Palm Beach, the weather is always nice, so a jacket isn't necessary, but at Coachella, the weather gets really cold at night so pack a jacket. I cannot stress this enough, ONLY PACK WHAT YOU REALLY NEED! You really do not want to lug around a lot of things when you are walking around in the hot sun. It makes the festival much enjoyable being able to move around without worrying about your bag. If you do not bring a ton of stiff, you will have as enjoyable of a festival experience as me!
